Hey guys! Thanks for tuning in. This post is not about fashion or beauty, as most of my blog posts may not be. I see this as a forum to be raw and personal. I’m by no means the authority on maintaining your sanity, and any shrink may tell you to never read any of my posts again, but these are just a few things that work for me. Of course, this post is not limited to small businesses, stores, blogs or fashion, but to anything that consumes the majority of your time/life! Hope you find this entertaining and possibly useful! Xo
A couple of nights a week around 6:30, you can find me horizontal, on the couch, in my pjs, watching TV or reading. This is MY time. All day, I focus on trying to make everything pretty and perfect, and I might as well be disabled because my phone is pretty much permanently glued to my left hand. Nope, not after I walk through that door. The phone goes on charge and the laptop is off, and I sometimes even go into what I like to refer to as my “zombie state”. Definition: You tune out every thought and tune in to something that gives your brain complete rest. My media of choice…Housewives or basically anything on Bravo, but you can pick your poison. I know, I know, it doesn’t sound productive at all, but if you never turn off and recharge, the batteries die. Like clock work, the next morning, I wake refreshed and the creative juices are flowing again! P.S. Do ya'll like my Carrie Bradshaw wanna be moment below? ; )
Find your cheerleaders.
Overtime, you learn who to talk to about what’s going on in your life. Not everyone will be encouraging or build you up, and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. Find your support system and seek them out when you need a pat on the back! Thankfully, my husband is truly my BIGGEST cheerleader. Not my only cheerleader, but my biggest. When I come to him with concern or frustrations about my business, or anything really, he allows me to vent, but I already know what his response will be….”It doesn’t even matter babe because you're always one step ahead…you’ve got this”. Verbatim. Truthfully, I don't really know what this means, but God bless his soul….I’m glad HE thinks I’ve got it all figured out! Find your cheerleaders and keep em’ close.
Treat yo’ self.
Every Friday, I pay myself. Monetarily, yes, but what I’m talking about is a little more tangible. It’s my belief that it’s just too much to ask to work, work, work, just to see all of that fly out the window for bills, gas, groceries….boring, boring, boring! I’m not talking about cleaning out the mall every Friday, but treat yourself to a mani and frozen yogurt or maybe a nice new top or accessory from The Golden Hanger! ; ) Kidding, but not really.
Now this one gets a little more serious, but I try to begin everyday by clearing my mind and centering myself before I do anything else. Well, almost anything else….coffee first, always coffee first. For me, quiet time and prayer took practice, and it's something that I had to learn to do over time, but I try not to begin a day without it. Paired with a devotional, it puts everything into perspective, and magically, my morning grumpiness fades! Well, most of the time. After I punch the clock, chances are my day won’t be perfect, in fact, sometimes it may feel plain awful! But through my growing relationship with Him, I can peacefully rest my head knowing that He’s got this!
Thanks for taking a ride on my sanity train! Hope you enjoyed! If you need to discuss further, come plop on our pink, leopard couch…we charge $100 an hr. Until next time…..Xoxo and #staygolden
